Solar powered PTZ camera with a 60 W panel.
Panel, battery and a 20X dome in one assembly, for the pole at the edge of the site where no cable will ever be trenched.
The system, not the camera
On a solar site the camera is the smallest question. The panel has to cover a day of recording from about four hours of good sun, the battery has to carry the night plus one bad day, and the camera draw decides how long that battery lasts.
The dome on this assembly draws up to 5 W. The specification states 3 to 4 days of standby in cloudy weather, which is the number to design against rather than a summer best case.
What the numbers mean in a bad week
Three overcast days in a row are normal in most markets, and a fifth day is not. If the site cannot lose the view for four days, the honest answer is a bigger battery or a second panel, not a promise about the weather.
Wake frequency matters as much as capacity. Continuous streaming empties a battery far faster than event recording, so set the schedule to what the site actually needs to watch.
Mounting on the pole
The assembly mounts on a pole with the panel facing the worst month of sun rather than the best one. One tree branch is worth more than a bigger panel, and the panel angle is set at installation, so the bracket has to allow it.
The housing is rated IP67 and the range runs from -30 to +60 C. Check the antenna height before the order: the 4G link usually fails before the power does.
Solar assembly, measured
These values are from the system specification rather than a best case estimate.
| Item | Value | What it means on site |
|---|---|---|
| Solar panel | 60 W mono | About four hours of good sun covers a normal day |
| Battery | 30 Ah, 12 V lithium | The night plus one bad day |
| Standby | 3 to 4 days | Cloudy and rainy days on standby recording |
| Camera draw | 5 W max | The dome sets how long the battery lasts |
| Illumination | IR 80 m | Array LEDs switched by the camera |
| Ingress | IP67 | Rain and hose, not submersion |
| Temperature | -30 to +60 C | Cold store yards and desert sites |
Power budget depends on how often the camera wakes and how long it streams. Ask for the numbers for your latitude and season before the order.
