People counting camera for doorways and aisles.
One job only: count the people who cross a line, and report the number with a direction rather than a stream somebody has to watch.
How a count becomes a number
You draw a line or a zone in the camera view. Each person who crosses it is counted once, and the camera reports the total per direction over an interval you choose.
The output is a table of counts, not a video file, which is why a counting camera can run for months on a recorder that would otherwise fill up in weeks.
Mount it overhead
A counting camera needs a view from above the doorway, looking down at the threshold. On a wall beside the door, two people walking close together merge into one count and the number drifts all day.
Height, lens and the width of the line decide the accuracy. Test the count against a manual tally for a day before you report the figure to anyone.
What the number is good for
Staffing against real footfall, conversion in a shop, and the occupancy argument for a site that has a limit. All three need the count to be comparable week to week, which means the line and the height must not move after commissioning.
If the requirement is a count with identity, or a count across a wide open square rather than a doorway, a counting body is the wrong tool and the job needs a different camera or a software layer.
Counting body
The line has one dedicated counting model. The sheet states the values below.
| Model | Resolution | Output | Stated capability |
|---|---|---|---|
| 80BG603LFA2-PTBR-PC | 6MP | Counts per direction | People counting, H.265+ |
| Counting line | Per data sheet | Set in the camera menu | One line or zone per view |
| Reporting interval | Per data sheet | Per interval | Set in the camera menu |
Accuracy, mounting height and the maximum count rate are in the data sheet. Ask for the mounting sheet for your door width before you specify the lens.
