License plate camera for parking entry and exit.
The barrier is the easy case, because the vehicle stops, the distance is fixed and the light can be arranged. The camera still has to be aimed at the plate, not at the car.
The barrier is the easy case
A car stops at the barrier, the plate sits in a known place at a known distance, and the camera can be mounted to look at it at a shallow angle. That is why a 4K fixed body is enough here and a dedicated lane camera is not needed.
The read becomes an event with the plate and a snapshot. That event opens a barrier, writes a record, or both, depending on what the site already has.
Light at the barrier
Headlights at night blow out a plate, and a lamp above the camera at the wrong angle turns it into a white rectangle. The usual fix is a light source beside the camera rather than above it, plus a short exposure that freezes the approach.
If the site cannot control the light, say so in the enquiry. It changes the model and the mounting height, and it is cheaper to decide before the bracket is on the wall.
What to send
Send a photo from the proposed camera position, at night if possible, with the barrier in the frame. Add the plate standard for the country, because character sets and plate sizes differ.
State where the read goes: a barrier controller, a VMS or an operator screen. The output format decides part of the configuration and it is not something that can be guessed after delivery.
Entry and exit camera, as listed
The parking case uses a fixed capture body. The sheet states the values below.
| Item | Value | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Model | 80BG801SM5A2-PTBA-LPR | Fixed capture body for a barrier |
| Resolution | 4K | Pixels on a plate at a known distance |
| Recognition | On the camera | Plate sent as an event |
| Compression | H.265+ | Storage on the recorder or the card |
| Output | Event to VMS or barrier | Per site, quoted with the camera |
| Lens | Per data sheet | Set by the distance to the barrier |
Shutter, recognition rate and the integration protocol are in the data sheet. A sample photo of the lane gets a mounting height and an angle back with the quote.
