Ultra series IP camera with full color night vision.
The top build of the network range, for sites where the night has to look like the day and nobody is going to install a floodlight.
Colour is the difference
IR gives a clear grey image and no colour information. On a perimeter that is usually enough to see that someone is there and not enough to say what they wore or what car they arrived in.
The Ultra bodies keep a colour image after dark with full color night vision and hybrid light, so the colour of a jacket or a vehicle survives into the recording.
Where the build earns its price
Two places. A yard or a car park with no street lighting, where a white light cannot be added because of neighbours or because the site has no power at the pole. And an entrance where the identification has to hold up later, in a statement or an insurance claim.
On a lit street the gain is smaller. If there is already light at the scene, a Pro body with real WDR often reads better and costs less.
What to settle first
Decide whether white light at night is acceptable on the site. The Ultra bodies can run with the white light on, and that is visible to residents and to drivers.
Then check the distance. Full color night vision depends on the lens and on how much light the scene already returns, so the usable distance is shorter than the IR figure on a Lite body.
Ultra series at a glance
The Ultra family is identified by body, and the values below are the ones the sheet states for the range.
| Series | Type | Night image | Illumination | Rating | Lens |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 80B Dark Fighter Ultra | Bullet | Full color | Hybrid light | IP67 | Per data sheet |
| 80B Ultra turret | Turret | Full color | Hybrid light | Per data sheet | Per data sheet |
| 80B Ultra varifocal | Bullet | Full color | Hybrid light | Per data sheet | Per data sheet |
Resolution, lens and the low light figure for each Ultra body are in its data sheet. Ask for the sheet before you compare it with a Pro body.
